The patronage "Maria (or in another spelling :) Assumption" of this church refers to one of the many days of commemoration or feast days in honor of the Mother of God Maria. It goes back to the feast of their physical acceptance into heaven, which the Church celebrates annually on August 15th.
In many rural areas it is customary that on this day herbal bundles (called "Kruggweusch" in the Rhenish dialect) are collected by the population and blessed in the festival service.

The construction of wall pillars dates back to the 15th century. After the vault collapsed in 1782, the country house was rebuilt. The high altar of the Asam brothers from 1749 was replaced in 1868 and reconstructed again from 1963.
