The observatory can be visited on the "open day" (for dates see foa.univie.ac.at/aktuelles/). As part of a guided tour, the sun can be observed with a special telescope in good weather. Nocturnal observations are not possible for visitors.
Special tours on other dates are also organized for larger groups.
