Leopold Figl Observatory for Astrophysics

The Leopold Figl Observatory for Astrophysics has been used for astronomical research since 1970. The focus is particularly on long-term programs that cannot be carried out at large observatories. Internships for students and public tours are also offered there.

The observatory can be visited on the "open day" (for dates see foa.univie.ac.at/aktuelles/). As part of a guided tour, the sun can be observed with a special telescope in good weather. Nocturnal observations are not possible for visitors.
Special tours on other dates are also organized for larger groups.

The Leopold Figl Observatory for Astrophysics is an outstation of the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Vienna. The observatory has been used for astronomical research since 1970. The focus is on long-term programs whose time requirements cannot be met by large observatories. Internships are carried out as part of the astronomy course. Public relations is another important task.The facilities of the observatory can be visited as part of the "Open Day".
