The ramparts behind the tower are still clearly visible.

The Vititor is one of the four former main gates of the city fortifications.
Its former inner gate dates back to the beginning of the stone city wall at the beginning of the 12th century and was built over with a gate tower.
Around 1500 the Vititor was supplemented by an outwork on the rampart in front, which included a mighty western flanking tower and a smaller eastern gate tower. The outer structure and the inner gate were connected by a gate courtyard bordered by high walls, with the outer gate and the inner gate being moved relative to one another at a sufficient angle so that fire from outside through the outer gate could not also destroy the inner gate.
As with the other main gates, the Vititor had a gate chapel integrated into the complex.
              Receive:
Parts of the eastern tower of the outer structure (behind it to the east is a remnant of the wall), the so-called Wachtmeisterturm.
Also remains of the walls of the gate courtyard and gate chapel.
The inner gate and its tower have disappeared, as has the mightier western tower of the outer structure.
