The Thyle is a river located in the province of Brabant Wallon in Belgium. It is a tributary of the Dyle and is part of the Scheldt basin via the Dyle and the Rupel. Just before the mouth in the Dyle, just south of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, the Thyle first merges with the Orne. Both rivers have cut a deep valley in the Brabant plateau. This river flows right through (the ruins of) the abbey of Villers in Villers-la-Ville. Like almost all Cistercian abbeys, this abbey also used the water for its economic activities (mill, brewery, kitchen, ...). It is also remarkable that the latrines in the abbey were located upstream from the brewery.
