The Großer Ifinger is also known as the local mountain of Schenna and is located at an altitude of 2,581m. The summit offers a wonderful panoramic view. However, since the summit climb is a secured via ferrata, good mountain experience, sure-footedness, a head for heights and via ferrata equipment are required.
Starting from the mountain station on Merano 2000, hiking trail no.3 leads past the Waidmannalm and continues uphill to the little church of St. Oswald (2,200m). It continues over the Oswaldscharte to the Kuhleitenhütte at 2,363 meters above sea level. Following trail no.19 you first reach the small Ifinger (2,552m) - here you can already enjoy a wonderful view. This is where the via ferrata to the Großer Ifinger begins. These rock passages are reserved for sure-footed and vertigo-free mountain hikers. The way back takes you back the same way.

Until the little Ifinger it's all about muscle power and no via ferrata set! If you are already there, you should not miss this summit experience.
