In the 12th century, windmills were also built by Dutch mill builders. Dörverden apparently received one of the first mills of this type.
A windmill is mentioned in 1148, and it was in the same place as it is today.
The Dörverdener Bockmühle, the predecessor of today's Galerie-Hollandermühle, is assigned to the second half of the 15th century. The brothers Jasper and Ludolf v. Klenke from Barme are the first owners in the sale to Ludolf v. Münchhausen zu Dörverden mentioned in the Drübber house book on October 19, 1644.
In 1663 the mill came into the possession of the Royal Swedish District Administrator Johann v. Sandbeck, landowner in Stedebergen.
In 1689 she bought it from Ramdor / Drübber from the Sandbeck heirs.

In 1710 the miller Wilhelm Gode from Mallen / Amt Hoya acquired the mill. The mill remained in the possession of the Gohdeschen line for over 100 years. In 1823, the half-man Dietrich Blöte bought the mill and had it operated by the miller's journeyman Wilhelm Loges.

The mill was damaged by lightning in 1854 and destroyed by fire in 1856. 1857 New construction of a gallery mill, one of the first solidly built windmills in the local area. In 1884 Heinrich Winter from Loge bought the mill.
Around 1913 a compass rose was installed and the cod end was dismantled. 1958 the windmill was shut down after a storm damage.
In 1992, master miller Konrad Dahnken bought the mill.
The mill has been refurbished since 1994 with the support of the municipality of Dörverden and the district.
The relatively well-preserved basic substance of the mill was the reason for the renovation measure. The entire internal mill technology, the grinding passages and the drive have been restored to working order
