Sliding slope is the inside bank of a river on which material is deposited due to the lower current. The bank on the outside of the curve is called the impact slope. The stronger current here removes material. The terms are used in connection with the meandering of a river. The erosion processes shift the loops of a river over time. A meandering breakthrough occurs if a moving impact slope meets another impact slope on the back.
