The Hermannsdenkmal is a colossal statue near Hiddesen southwest of Detmold in North Rhine-Westphalia in the southern Teutoburg Forest. It was built between 1838 and 1875 to designs by Ernst von Bandel and inaugurated on 16 August 1875.

The monument is intended to commemorate the Cheruscan ruler Arminius, especially the so-called Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, in which Germanic tribes led a decisive defeat in 9 during the reign of the three Roman legions XVII, XVIII and XIX under Publius Quinctilius Varus.
With a height of 26.57 meters and a total height of 53.46 meters, it is the tallest statue in Germany and was from 1875 to the edification of the Statue of Liberty in 1886, the tallest statue in the Western world. Telephone: 05231 3014863

The journey from Heiligenkirchen has a 20% gradient at the end and you can combine it with the Gauseköthe.
