Like most Shinto shrines, the entrance to the Heian Jingu Shrine is marked by a vermilion Torii. At almost 25 meters, it dominates the entire Okazaki-Koen Park.

The Torii of Heian-jingu is the second biggest one in Japan. So you can see it from many spots, like the Suirokaku Water Bridge aqueduct next to Nanzenji (see my pictures).

Impressively huge gate marking the route towards the shrine. The shrine itself is about another 200m down the road. The Kyoto Museum of Art is right next to this gate.
