Bike Touring Highlight
On the upper course of the river in Paderborn, the city of Paderborn once drove five mills, of which today only the Stümpelsche mill is still operated. The mills produced energy, forged and ground grain; There were also oil and fulling mills. The Pader water was used for centuries as bathing, industrial, extinguishing, drinking and washing water. The Stümpelsche Mühle is the only Paderborn mill operated with an undershot water wheel, which is also the largest in East Westphalia-Lippe. There are two more active mills; the Pollmann and Becker mills still grind grain for the bread factory Reineke.
