De Plas Kelchterhoef

De Plas belongs to the Kelchterhoef domain and is part of De Wijers. There is a 2.6 km walking route around the entire lake. Halfway through you pass the nature zone, which turns beautiful purple, especially during the summer, due to the blooming heather. The Lake is an old sand extraction pit and is dangerously deep in some places, up to 10 meters. Fishermen can fish for one of the largest carp in Europe, the Mohican. There are various toads and frogs in the nature reserve, including the rare natterjack toad. There are also various events. Recreational park 'De Plas' has a swimming pond of 20 hectares and the sandy beach with a demarcated swimming area, has everything for a day trip full of swimming fun with the whole family. Swimming is only permitted within the designated swimming area and during opening hours. Besides swimming, you can also surf, sail or dive.
