Pedunculate oak: This tree is called "Wildweicheichee". Little is known about the numerous oak giants that stand out at the beginning of the path from the car park at Bruderhaus (Mahdentalstraße) in the northern hillside forest. Once you have climbed the ascent, you come across a large clearing, which is intersected by the Wildwiesenweg, a chestnut avenue that runs to Bärensee. At the edge of this clearing, the contours of an exceptionally large and perhaps 350-year-old English oak can be seen. Its crown, which is still densely branched and somewhat shaggy, is more than 35 meters high and the largest diameter is at least 22 meters. The huge trunk reaches 6.26 meters and the hand-wide bark strands protrude far. The wild meadow oak is the strongest tree west of the Bärensee, an area in which mighty, old red beeches, hornbeams and above all pedunculate oaks are present in such a large number that one has almost got used to trunk dimensions between five and six meters during long stays. Elsewhere, such giant trees are highlighted in a special way - here they are almost lost in the crowd!
Growth rate of trunk size
The trunk circumference of the tree was measured several times: @ 1.3 @ 2 m measurement Growth rate of trunk circumference 2009 6.28 m 2016 6.35 m 5.97 m 1.0 cm / year The growth rate in the table shows the annual average increase in volume since the last measurement. This value only gives an indication of the growth rate. Each measurement can have been carried out at slightly different heights and in different seasons.
height
The height of the tree was measured several times:
2009/11 29 ~ 35 m 2016/11 31 m Each measurement can be done with different accuracy.
