Schloss Lebenberg is a stately castle complex that rises on a hill surrounded by vineyards above the municipality of Tscherms. It is the symbol of the village. During a hike on the Marlinger Waalweg you have a beautiful view of the castle.
Built in the 13th century by the Lords of Marlengo, Lebenberg is one of the most beautiful and largest fully furnished castles in South Tyrol that are still privately owned. In 1426 it passed from the lords of Marling to the lords of Fuchs, who had it rebuilt and enlarged over the centuries to come. Lebenberg Castle remained in the hands of the von Fuchs family until the family died out in the 19th century. Today the complex belongs to the van Rossem family and can be visited.
The three-story chapel of St. Stephen from the 14th century, picturesque inner courtyards, a French ornamental garden and a rococo-style hall of mirrors tell of glorious times. The Knights' Hall and the Armory Hall are also worth seeing. In addition, some valuable Gothic frescoes have recently been rediscovered. Lebenberg Castle can be hiked from the village center of Tscherms, and it can also be reached by car on the Lebenbergstraße.
