Nice photo point right on the bike path. In 1860, the imprint of a pen from the Jurassic period, the first reference to the "primeval bird" Archeopteryx, was found in Solnhofen. In 1874 the skeletal impression of the Archeopteryx was found on a stone slab here. The fascinating animal has so far only been discovered in the Altmühltal Nature Park.

A panel indicates the importance of the area as a fossil region. In 1861 the first archeopteryx - a pigeon-sized primeval bird - was discovered here. In the hobby stone quarry you can search for fossils yourself and learn about the history in the museum in Solnhofen.

The ammonite has always stood here, formerly embedded in an old stone wall. Due to the construction of the roundabout, the ammonite was unattractively placed here so that it would have a nice place on the island of the circle after the roundabout was completed. Unfortunately, a ban has been issued in the meantime and the ammonite has been standing here without love ever since. However, once during carnival he found his way to the island!!!!!!
