The Vogel family originally comes from Braunwald and Linthal. They have been citizens of the city of Glarus since 1515.
In 1907 Fritz Vogel went to the oldest hotel management school in the world in Lausanne and took over the Stadthof-Posthotel near the main train station in Zurich.
In 1948 his son Fridolin bought the Hotel Glarnerhof in Glarus.
In 1972 he bought the Hotel Bellevue in Braunwald.
In 1975 he handed the Hotel Bellevue over to his son Martin.
In 1977, Martin and Lydia Vogel turned it into the now legendary fairytale hotel.
