Here, opposite the old water mill in Bergstedt, the Saselbek flows into the Alster. The mouth itself is unfortunately difficult to access. The area near the mill is privately owned, the banks of the Alster are overgrown in summer - in winter it is easier to reach the opposite bank of the Alster.

The Saselbek stream flows out of the Allhorn pond in Hamburg's Volksdorf district. It flows in a westerly direction, passes the center of Volksdorf, crosses the Volksdorfer Teichwiesen nature reserve between Volksdorf and Sasel, forms the border between Bergstedt and Sasel and sweeps slightly northwest into the Hainesch / Iland nature reserve. It flows into the Alster at the Alte Mühle above the Mellingburg lock. The Saselbek is therefore a 3rd order body of water. As a tributary, the Gussau in Volksdorf, the Streekbek and the Furtbek in Bergstedt are worth mentioning.

The Saselbek forms the former course of the Gussau and Allhorn glaciers, which penetrated into the region of today's forest villages during the Vistula ice age.
In the lower reaches, the Saselbek line steep edges where kingfishers nest.

The Alster is worth it anyway.
