Warm Springs has a stunning history. Back in the day, the Panamint Shoshone used the springs to stay there over the winter months. The tribal chief built a ranch here near the end of the 1880's with more than 150 fruit trees. It all got lost due to a flood in 1897.

In the 1930's the site was used for mining activities and a camp was constructed. The mines produced tons of talc and also a gold mine was set up in the canyon. The mining activities continued until the 1980's. Afterwards it was donated to the National Park service.

Today, the camp is still almost completely intact and you can set up you own camp to spend the night and explore the area. To get here, a 4x4 high-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended.
