German Ossuary of Huisnes sur Mer. In each of the 68 crypts rest 180 bodies first buried in different cemeteries in France and in the Channel Islands and then gathered here. The guard explained to us why there were deceased elderly people in this cemetery. Apparently, in addition to the soldiers who died on the front lines, many died in captivity for lack of food. There are also German civilians captured on German territory during the invasion of the country in the autumn of 1944. Many of these civilians died in captivity, including women and children.
