There are four exceptionally well-preserved erosion channels or so-called grooves in the Neigembos. They are a unique biotope with rare plants and animals. The footpath has been reopened in one of the quarries. A boardwalk of 220 meters has been constructed to bridge a height difference of 24 meters.

A groebe is a specific valley shape. It is an erosion channel with steep walls like you will find here in the Neigembos. They originated after the last ice age, about 12,000 years ago. The meltwater quickly scoured the slopes and steep walls and deep gullies were formed. That is why a groebe is also called a melting valley. The reason why this specific shape can still be seen so well is because of the afforestation.
