From Melle, a challenging climb over asphalted side roads, the last route to the spring is along a forest path. Doable with a touring bike, but technically demanding with a lot of luggage. After a lot of rain, the route is also very muddy.

Not much to see at the spring - but for us, the spring is part of a river cycle path.

Cycling

The river Hunte rises on the slope of the Holzhauser mountain north of Melle. From there, it meanders through the forest for the most part as a near-natural stream. Due to the changing shape of the bottom and bank vegetation, it offers a habitat for many small animals. But also large animals, such as wild boars, take a refreshing mud bath near the stream.
