The lodge building of the Johannis Lodge Ferdinand zum roten Adler (Ferdinand of the Red Eagle) was built in 1788 as a residence on Heinrichstrasse, now Rudolf-Breitscheid-Strasse 16. The Freemasons acquired the building in 1815.

Since 2001, the building has been the seat of the reopened Johannis Lodge Ferdinand zum roten Adler, a daughter lodge of the Grand National Mother Lodge "Zu den drei Weltkugeln" (To the Three Globes) – the oldest Freemasons' Grand Lodge in Germany, founded on September 13, 1740, in Berlin.
