Through the incorporation of 1922, the population of Cologne doubled. Among other things, this led to a considerable increase in water consumption. In 1925, the city council therefore decided to build a waterworks in Weiler, which the architect Clemens Klotz built from 1927 to 1931. A location in a tertiary Rhine basin was selected for the plant.

Here you can fill up your water bottles at the drinking fountain and I'm pretty sure the waterworks is actually just a cover for Hellboy's secret base 😉 number 13!
