The Kiel Fjord (Danish Kiel Fjord and Kiel Fjords) is an approximately 17 km long, narrow fjord on the Baltic Sea, which was created by glacier movements in the last ice age. It lies between the landscapes Dänischer Wohld in the west and Wagrien in the east and extends from its southern end, the horn next to the city center of Kiel, to the outer fjord, which merges into the Bay of Kiel. At the "Friedrichsorter Enge" is the fjord, which forms a natural deep water port, only 1 km wide and was formerly secured by the fortress Friedrichsort.
