Roncobilaccio (only 250 inhabitants) is a small hamlet of Castiglione dei Pepoli on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, 1 km from the homonymous exit of the motorway, at the foot of the Futa pass, halfway between Prato and Bologna.

It became important in the 60s, when the "Autostrada del Sole" was built to connect the cities of Bologna and Florence through the Apennine mountain range. Currently, after the new highway has bypassed it with the Variante di Valico tunnel, Roncobilaccio has lost much of its importance, becoming much less frequented by the transit of goods and people, but has not lost any of its scenic beauty.

There is a hotel which can be a good starting point for hiking or MTB and racing bike tours.

Starting from Roncobilaccio, naturalistic, sporting, historical and religious itineraries are possible. Just a few examples:
