The boulder David and Goliath is one of the largest boulders in the Osnabrück region in Lower Saxony and northwestern Germany. A large erratic block was uncovered on the northwest slope of the Hülsberg near Glandorf-Averfehrden (near Bad Laer, in the far south of the Osnabrück district) as part of land consolidation. When the stone was exposed, a wedge-shaped fragment, known as "David", came loose, while the rest of the rest were given the name Goliath. “Goliath weighs around 63 t and has a circumference of around 11 meters. David weighs 4 to 5 tons. Its circumference is about 6 meters. The stones were lifted in 1979 and placed about 300 m south-southwest of the site on the B 475 as a natural monument.

Rock investigations have shown that the erratic boulder originally comes from central Sweden and is a so-called Filipstad granite, a hornblende-bearing biotite granite. In the course of the Saale ice age (the middle of the three large ice ages around 230,000 - 140,000 years ago) it was transported by glaciers to Averfehrden over a distance of around 1250 kilometers.
