A very beautiful, leisurely hike leads from the dreamy bays of Portals Vells along the coast to the lighthouse "Faro de Cala Figuera" (opened in 1860). Although you can't get quite close to the lighthouse, it's worth taking a break just before it: the view is magnificent. Near the lighthouse, somewhat hidden off the path, there is a kind of bunker area. It takes a bit of courage to explore it, it's so dark and quiet inside. The dilapidated complex served as a defense system for the Bay of Palma (Cala Figuera Battery) at the beginning of the 20th century around 1914. Although the complex was officially dismantled in 1958, the Spanish army did not leave it until 1996. The old powder chambers, the troop quarters and the guard building can still be found there today.

But be careful: the ceiling of the old troop quarters in particular no longer looks so safe. Therefore, if you enter the complex, you should be careful!
