The town church, which was built in the 13th century, is located in the historic town center. The church was first mentioned in 1276. It was assumed that this church was built in competition with the town of Marlow, which also built a Gothic brick church in the same period.The spire was destroyed by fire in 1770. The church tower was not given a new, neo-Gothic straight top until 1892.
