Schwarzwald Barracks

The barracks was built in 1955 by the French army as a recreational facility for the Foreign Legion (Légion étrangère). In 1963 it was handed over to the Bundeswehr. Since 1969 the location has been the seat of one of 15 units of the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr (SportFGrpBw, predecessor sports group Heer and sports promotion group south). Furthermore, a unit of the 10th Panzer Division (training company) was stationed here until May 1999 (ZusatzKp 2/10).
