The small pilgrimage chapel St. Wendel zum Stein stands on a ten meter high rock wall in the nature reserve of the same name. It was built on behalf of Ursula von Berlichingen between 1511 and 1515.

St. Wendel has everything you need for a real folk sanctuary: a picturesque place made of rocks and caves, a spring that is said to give fertility, a legend about a lonely shepherd who built the chapel according to divine instructions. Built on the rock, the Gothic chapel stands on a narrow strip between the rock face and the Jagstufer - there is something magical about that. However, the magic is devalued by the constant noise of the main road on the other bank.
