Beautiful colorful half-timbered houses characterize the old town of Wernigerode. Especially the cafés on the market square with the town hall invite you to take a break. East of the old town, the castle towers on the Agnesberg.

Wernigerode is called "The colorful city of the Harz". Whoever is there also knows why. The old town consists entirely of historic houses, all of which have been well restored. Despite the hustle and bustle, you can find a place in one of the countless restaurants.
One should not forget that Wernigerode is a highlight for steam locomotive lovers.

And don't forget the Brocken Museum and the Harz Museum.

Especially interesting for those who want to deal a little with the history and the place as such.

The tourist city in the eastern part of the Harz. Overflowed, but worth seeing

We originally wanted to go to Wernigerode by bike, but because of the time of year we walked it.
In addition to the city itself, there is the smallest house museum (Kochstrasse 43), the Schiefes Haus museum (Klimtgasse), the Cafe Wien (Breite Strasse 4), the Krummelsche Haus (Breite Strasse 72) and, for railway fans, the HSB steam locomotives.

A wonderful city in the old Gothic style. Everywhere possibilities to eat something or to browse and shop in shops. Wernigerode is worth a visit

You should plan a little more time for Wernigerode.
The old town is well worth seeing, but the castle is also very beautiful.
