Schloss Lustheim is located on the eastern edge of Schleißheimer Park, just over a kilometer from the complex of the Old and New Castles. The building was built in 1684 on the occasion of the marriage of Elector Max Emanuel (reigned 1679-1726) with the Austrian Emperor's daughter Maria Antonia in 1685. Lustheim served, as the name implies, as a pure pleasure and hunting lodge and was not permanently inhabited. The architect in charge of the building, built on the basis of the Italian villa suburbana, was Enrico Zuccalli
