The family of the composer G. F. Handel has significant roots in Mansfeld. G. F. Handel's great-great-grandfather Christoph Ziebogen (1524-1598) lived as a wealthy farmer in Aseleben and was also a judge in the Seeburg district. He died of the plague in 1598. His epitaph was originally in the church in Aseleben. The current church in Aseleben, St. Bartholomew, was only built in 1875 on the floor of an old church from the 11th century.
The organ with its 600 pipes was built by the organ builder Ernst Apel from Querfurt in 1875 for 850 thalers and was only restored in 1991.
Aseleben is located between Halle (Saale) and Lutherstadt Eisleben and is now a tourist gem on the Sweet Lake.
