The 40 hectare Dellbrücker Heide in the north-east of Cologne is one of the smallest, youngest and at the same time most valuable nature reserve in the Bergische Heideterrasse natural area. Dry sandy grasslands and Calluna heaths are a refuge for endangered specialists such as the blue-winged wasteland insect, mountain sand bells, natterjack toad or swallowtail.
