Best Hikes to Asberg Summit Cross and Viewpoint

Tips

  • The name Asberg - locally formerly "Ahsberg", in the cadastre Aasberg - is derived from "Asc" (= ash) and may not originally have referred to the mountain, but to the Celtic refuge castle. There used to be a well on the east side of the Asberg, what the field name Am Asbergsbrunnen reminds of.

The beautiful view from up here :)

  • The Asberg (441 m) is surrounded by several old quarries and lakes below. The way there is an official trail, but a bit off the main roads. Do not be distracted by the many prohibition signs to the right and left of the path and the yellow barbed wire fence. Once at the top you will find a bench, a summit cross and a wonderful view towards Bad Honnef!
