History of the origins of the Stechinelli ChapelThe fate of the builder - Francesco Maria Capellini (1640 -1694), called Stechinelli (pronounced: Steckinelli) is as magical as the splendor of the chapel.As a 15-year-old page, he came to the court of Duke Georg Wilhelm von Celle and rose to become General Hereditary Postmaster of the Guelph Principalities with the status of Imperial Baron. Through a brisk trade in wine and cloth and with real estate transactions, he acquired legendary wealth and several manors, including the manor in Wieckenberg. Here with a baroque-style pleasure garden, of which a baroque fountain has remained, the courtyard gate and the chapel, which he had built according to his designs in 1692, but whose completion in 1699 he did not live to see.According to legend, his wife, who had the building completed, is said to have immortalized the 13 children in the ceiling paintings...
