Did you know?
19th c. Count Tiškevičiai, who ruled Palanga at the end of the 19th century, decided to build a pier for ships that would transport bricks produced in the counters' brickyard. The pier was built in 1884 - 1888, from there the ship "Phoenix" sailed to Klaipeda and Liepaja. Later, when brick exports failed, passengers began to sail on this ship. However, after the storms, the pier was covered with sand and in the long run it was understood that the bridge was not suitable for navigation.
Since 1892, the sea bridge has become a favorite place for walks. Time, sea waves and wind destroyed this building, so in 1998 a new bridge was built on concrete piles with a length of 470 meters.
