The high arches of the listed A72 motorway bridge from 1935 (groundbreaking, laying of the foundation stone in 1937, completion in 1940, partially destroyed in 1945 and reopening in 1993) span the Saale valley near Saalenstein. An imposing structure with a length of 268 m and a height of 39 m. Winter opportunities for bats and nesting sites for kestrels have been integrated into the structure.
