The three-limestone from sandstone, inaugurated in the year of the Lord in 2009, marks a "watershed point". Here on the ridge of the Teutoburg Forest, the water catchment areas of the Rhine, Weser and Ems meet.

The Dreiflussstein is in a remote location, but the path there, no matter which direction you come from, is very beautiful through the idyllic forest, especially on weekends when other paths are very crowded.
When hiking on unknown routes, I recommend the Teutonavigator app in addition to Komoot, especially for finding interesting routes.

The Dreiflussstein connects the catchment areas of three large European rivers, the Ems, the Weser and the Rhine and acts as an intersection of the catchment areas and as an indicator to help water bodies to be as good as possible and to protect intact water bodies. It also reminds of the importance of intact water as a habitat for people, flora and fauna.
