Ideal place for a safe overnight stay in the mountains. In the bivouac on summer weekends, CAI volunteers are almost always present, a reassuring presence if you are not experienced hikers, to whom you can turn, even for a good coffee in the morning.

Lago Nero is a mountain lake of glacial origin, in the Pistoia mountains. Its basin is a basin formed by the excavation of an ancient glacier. Located at 1730 m above sea level. it is surrounded by imposing Apennine mountains that reach 2000 m above sea level, in particular by Alpe Tre Potenze (1,940 m above sea level). It owes its name to the dark reflection that its waters give off, which flow into the Sestaione torrent, the largest tributary of the Lima river, the largest tributary of the Serchio river.
The lake can be reached by following path no. 104 CAI white-red, starting from the Abetone Forest Botanical Garden in the Sestaione Valley. Near the lake there is a CAI alpine refuge, the Rifugio Lago Nero, with a bivouac always open.
