The Smith family were mine owners and in the early 18C they had a great hall which stood in the area now known as Mount Pleasant Recreation Centre but this magnificent pool still exists.
I actually think it tops a relatively local beauty spot, Westport Lake.
This has more of an earthy beauty and is less manicured which appeals greatly to my personal aesthetic preferences.
Apparently it is extremely good for fishing too.
