According to historians, this path has existed since antiquity. It allowed pilgrims to access the temple of Mercury located at the top of the Puy de Dôme. Riding it is a mystical experience in itself.
Its wide and not very technical trail does not seem complicated at first glance. But the 365 meters of elevation gain in two kilometers will put your legs to the test, especially as the slope steepens as you go.
Fortunately, the bends that make it up make the climb less insurmountable. Fifteen numbered turns separate the Col de Ceyssat at the foot and the summit of the volcano. Most of them offer magnificent views of the south of the Puys chain. You will feel like a cyclist as you climb a legendary pass in the Tour de France!

A little steep climb but as you climb, a superb view appears.
