My personal interpretation: The color of the work is based on the cattle wagons in which the concentration camp inmates were transported for days. The abstractly portrayed people push out of this with their last strength if they can still do it after the exertions. Although there is a certain urge for freedom, there is nothing happy about the scene. It's about bare survival.

The Bergen-Belsen Ramp Object memorial was created in 2007 by the artists Almut and Hans-Jürgen Breuste. It is located near the former freight loading ramp between Bergen and Belsen, approximately six kilometers from the former Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. During World War II, tens of thousands of prisoners of war and concentration camp inmates arrived here between 1940 and 1945 and were then forced to walk to the camp.

The memorial consists of a horizontal crater formed from unused railway tracks. Square rods with stamped numbers wind inside. Weighing 90 tons, the steel structure is intended to mark the way to the remote ramp and commemorate the suffering of the prisoners.

A footpath connects the memorial to the loading ramp along the railway line. A historic freight car was also erected there by the Bergen-Belsen Working Group as a further memorial.
