The name supposedly stems from the fact that mainly strawberries were grown in the allotments around the bridge. Not much of it can be seen nowadays; fruit trees predominate in the numerous gardens.

Halfway across the bridge is the island / peninsula "Werder".
You could discuss whether Werder is an island or a peninsula ... But if you consider the brook "Zuleiter Werdersee" Werder is clearly an island.
