The Iron Hand Guide is a replica of the ancient original signpost that had been in place for centuries. The mere fact that the signpost was made of metal shows the importance of this mark, but also of the trade routes right through the Hainich. The original signpost from the Middle Ages can be visited today in the castle in Mülverstedt.
Each of the five fingers points in a different direction and used to be a valuable guide for hikers and merchants.

There is much to discover here. Many signposts and old trees.
