Accessed from Dean Bridge, follow the footpath alongside the Dean Dike as it runs through Morton Wood. The valley sides are steep and well wooded, creating an isolated and almost magical feeling. The path is uneven, rocky and eroded in places.

Morton Wood, nestled near Hepworth in the Holme Valley, is an enchanting woodland and gorge. The bluebells carpeted the grass when we visited in early May.
The woodland stretches along a brook, with footpaths that often criss‑cross the water via stepping‑stones or small wooden bridges, offering a sense of being deeply immersed in nature. But beware that the stones can get slippery when wet and the path is uneven. Make sure you wear shoes or boots with a good grip.
