Hiking

Saint Hubertus, to whom the Erkensruhr chapel is dedicated, lived from 655 to 727 and is a very popular saint, best known as the patron saint of hunters. A stag with a glowing cross between its antlers is said to have appeared to him, which is why it is often shown on Hubertus portraits. This legend was originally attributed to Saint Eustace and over time 'migrated' to Hubertus.
His memorial day in the calendar of saints is November 3rd.

Hiking

Since there was no church of its own in Erkensruhr, the residents of the town always had to go to Dedenborn to visit the mass. After the Second World War, the residents tried to build their own church. This is how today's branch church was built in 1948. The chapel is dedicated to St. Hubertus von Lüttich and today belongs to the parish Einruhr. Source: Wikipedia
