The history of the church begins in 1031, when Bishop Meinwerk donated his possessions to the north and south Borchen to the Benedictine order from the Abdinghof in Paderborn. The first wooden church was probably built at this time.

After the Thirty Years' War also destroyed the Nordborchen church, it was rebuilt by 1722.

In 1902, the Nordborchen chapel community built a new church on its own initiative and with its own funds. In 1925 Nordborchen became a vicarage.

The current church building was planned during the time of the second Vatican Council. "The church as God's tent, the church as pilgrim people of God on the way" - that should be reflected in the concept of the church building.

On October 13, 1968, the current church was inaugurated by auxiliary bishop Dr. Nordhues inaugurated.
