On the route along the Ems-Jade Canal, you shouldn't miss the detour to Reepsholt and its enchanting ruins, the St. Mauritius Church. Only meters away from the east-west route we find a place full of beauty and magic.
the church was built around 1200. In contrast, there was the collegiate church in the immediate vicinity. In the 14th century a tower was added to the west side, but it was destroyed in a siege in 1474. The tower ruin has since become the town's landmark and one of the most famous buildings in the Wittmund district.
All in all: take a look at it and take a little time to linger. The soul thanks you.
