Meanwhile already a "Lost Place"! Only the foundation is left.
We miss the great view from the Atzelberg Tower very much ... 😢
What kind of people are they who have to destroy something like that: Goetheturm, Atzelbergturm ... 😱

A beautiful lookout tower with 360 ° panorma in the Taunus. Unfortunately currently (August 2017) due to a lightning strike and an associated fire damage going over blocked. Photos from above thus follow.

Atzelberg tower on fire: it was arson again
    07/05/2017
The Atzelberg tower in flames - it is bad news for the day trippers in the Taunus. On the night of Monday, a fire severely damaged the lookout tower near Eppenhain. It is the second time that the tower has burned. Again, arson can be assumed.
The upper part of the Atzelberg tower was on fire.
Everyone rightly suspected it, and now the police confirm it too: The fire experts at the Kripo in Hofheim assume that there will be arson after the fire at the Atzelberg tower in Eppenhain. Police spokesman Johannes Neumann reported yesterday. Whether the fire was deliberate or was the cause of negligence remains to be determined. A fire caused by faulty behavior "cannot be ruled out under any circumstances," emphasizes Neumann.

The Atzelberg tower is a 30.39 m high viewing tower made of pine wood, whose open viewing platform is around 533 m above sea level. NHN [3] can be achieved over 151 steps. It is the highest publicly accessible point in the Main-Taunus district.

It is the third lookout tower on the Atzelberg. From 1913 to 1976 there was already a steel lattice tower in the same place, which was named after the wife of the founder, the factory director Philipp Maul, Luisenturm. The old tower had to be demolished due to dilapidation; after the incorporation of Eppenhain in 1977, the city of Kelkheim agreed to a new building. The successor built in 1980, like today's tower, was also a 30.39 m [4] high timber frame construction with a triangular floor plan. It had 169 levels. He probably burned down on the morning of August 5, 2008 due to arson. [5] The ruin of the tower was then demolished.

After plans by a network provider to rebuild the tower at their own expense and there a mobile operator

Already on the night of Monday, when the weirs from the neighboring district with a large contingent set out for the popular destination on the Atzelberg

As a newcomer, the Atzelbergturm was my first destination here in the Rhine-Main area and many other acquaintances were able to enjoy the wonderful view. It was a popular destination with a beautiful view.

Info as of June 2019: The Atzelberg tower will be demolished in the coming weeks due to the large damage caused by a fire in summer 2017.
    A new building is planned.

I am very happy that a new tower is to be built here. :-)

The tower is no longer, is only a pile of boards, so NO more highlight! Only when it was rebuilt!
