By chance, we discovered this observation tower via Komoot during a bike ride and I am thrilled. A great view and the way to the lookout tower is idyllic.

the "Bucksche Schweiz" near Hohenbocka. Here is a gem, hardened glass sand as solid sandstone. On the Possenberg east of Hohenbocka there is an approx. 25 meter high observation tower. From here you can see the Hohenbockaer Switzerland. At the foot of the tower, a path leads to the remarkable sandstone cliffs on Heinrichsschacht. They gave the area the nickname Switzerland because they resemble Saxon Switzerland in miniature. They consist of hardened glass sand which has been mined here since the 19th century. The white Hohenbocka glass sand was created about 16 million years ago from the beach and dunes of a flat sea. The mined sand is used in the manufacture of glass, for example for construction and lighting glass.
The observation tower was unfortunately closed. It was surrounded by a fence and locked. Everywhere on the hiking trails there were signs from the district office that forbid entering the lookout tower.

Beautiful observation tower and glass sandstone formations worth seeing.
